The BYU Spacecraft Group researches and develops new spacecraft technologies for in-space demonstration missions. The Spacecraft Group hosts the Spacecraft Club to prepare students of multiple disciplines for undergraduate and graduate research in the group and for positions in the aerospace industry.
Our first graduate student, Patrick Walton, is researching feasible opportunities for the Spacecraft Group's next technology demonstration mission. Missions are being considered that demonstrate new spacecraft technologies developed in the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology, remote sensing technologies developed by the Center for Remote Sensing, and advancements to the Passive Inspection CubeSats (PICs) technology. The group plans to use custom bus technologies developed by the Spacecraft Team for the PICs mission.
